A company secretary is someone who acts as a moderator between the shareholders, government, regulatory authorities and the company and its board of directors.

The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) develops and regulates the profession of Company Secretaries in the country. Every company with a paid up capital of Rs. 5 crores or more needs to appoint a whole time company secretary.

What Is The Career Scope?

Scope of Company Secretary is becoming very broad with the growth in the corporate world. One can get into highly paid positions in the private and public sectors, various banks and financial institutions, the Department of Company Affairs, stock exchanges, company law boards and government departments.

Companies will pay handsome packages to you if you’re excellent & committed to your work. Also, you may get exceptional job opportunities in other countries as well after completion of this course. You may even go for independent practice if you wish to start your own firm.

Career Growth

The job positions begin with Junior Secretarial officer, Company Secretary, to the Financial Advisor, keeping in consideration the internal hierarchical order of the organization. However, with more experience, one can always go higher up the growth ladder leading to heading the Legal department of a firm and even becoming a Director or Managing Director.

With the proper set of knowledge and skills, one can easily advance in his/her career in this particular field.
